Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience
- completion of Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program or equivalent
- prior bakery or grocery retail experience preferred
- ability to apply advanced cake and pastry decorating skills
- effective time management and organizational abilities
- strong communication skills
- ability to work well as part of a team
- knowledge of color theory for icing
- ability to follow recipes and procedures accurately
- advanced knife handling and equipment safety knowledge
- solid customer service skills
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Job Duties
- Assemble, fill, and finish or decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items
- build, ice, and decorate bakery items following standard procedures
- complete production and spoilage records
- prioritize production lists and recommend adjustments
- merchandise and showcase products in display cases
- provide guidance and support to apprentices and team members
- create special order cake designs based on customer preferences
- provide excellent customer service and model suggestive selling
- maintain a clean and sanitary work environment according to standards
- perform opening, mid, and closing duties ensuring signage and pricing accuracy
- perform other duties as assigned
