Job Requirements
- Minimum six months experience in fresh production area
- must be 18 years of age or older
- able to successfully complete all job required trainings and assessments within prescribed time period
- able to work collaboratively with associates and provide excellent member service
- able to follow safety standards and procedures
- able to handle physical demands of bakery work including standing, lifting, and manual dexterity
- able to maintain cleanliness and organization in work area
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- six months of experience in fresh production area
- ability to follow company policies and procedures for food safety and quality
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- basic math skills for measurements and pricing
- experience or interest in cake decorating preferred
- ability to operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently
- strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- customer service skills
Job Duties
- Clean and maintain the bakery area including work surfaces, windows, mirrors, display cases, and coolers
- follow company policies for food preparation, handling, packaging, labeling, and storage
- operate and sanitize food-related equipment
- stock and display food products properly
- utilize approved chemicals, supplies, tools, and equipment
- maintain merchandise presentation by stocking merchandise, setting up and organizing product displays, removing damaged goods, signing and pricing merchandise appropriately, and securing fragile and high-shrink items
- prepare bakery department merchandise based on daily production needs
- operate bakery equipment and follow recipe measurement instructions
- use specialized decorating skills to create decorative flowers, lettering, and designs on bakery items such as cakes, cupcakes, and pies
- follow members' orders and specifications for appropriate designs and colors
- properly wrap, label, and store merchandise
- provide member service by acknowledging members, identifying their needs, assisting with purchasing decisions, utilizing selling techniques, taking bakery orders in person or by phone, locating merchandise, managing production to deliver orders on time, keeping sales area and backroom stocked, and resolving issues
- maintain safety of facility by following safety standards, procedures, and guidelines including safety sweeps and reporting unsafe situations
- maintain sales floor in bakery area by properly handling claims and returns, zoning the area, arranging merchandise, and identifying shrink and damages
