Job Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
1-2 years' experience in decorating
Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without accommodation
Willingness to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment
Ability to stand for extended periods
Good manual dexterity
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
Flexibility to assist other departments when needed

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
1-2 years' experience in decorating
Ability to use company approved recipes accurately
Strong customer service skills
Ability to decorate cakes with attention to detail
Good communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations

Job Duties

Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand
Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, answers questions about various products and preparation of cakes
Helps resolve customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner
Takes customer orders over the phone or in person at the store with a pleasant and positive attitude
Determines what the customer is looking for in terms of size, flavor and appearance
Creates the finished decorated product in timely fashion
Decorates cakes and other bakery products using dye, specific designs or by creating custom designs
Uses variety of creams, frostings and fillings with consistent outcome
Makes icing for cakes and other related products
Adheres to company approved recipes
Trims and cuts cakes to required shape and size
Spreads icing between layers and on cake surface
Tints white icing to required colors
Assists in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area while adhering to production logs
Creates cakes, pastries, etc. for sale in service case
Follows rotation and mark down policies to ensure quality and freshness
Helps maintain inventory levels with proper ordering and proper production logging
May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack if properly trained
Training provided
May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained
Training provided
Responsible for general sanitation in the department
Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements
Disposes of trash properly
Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors
Responsible to continuously improve job performance
Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). Including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc.
May also be called upon to assist in other departments
