Job Requirements
- Have an approved food handler’s card, kitchen knives and non-slip shoes prior to first day of work
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand 100 percent of the time with occasional exposure to cold, heat and water
- Understanding and ability to follow safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
- Ability to comprehend, read and communicate in English
Job Qualifications
- 1.5 years of corporate kitchen prep cook experience
- Approved food handler’s card
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- Ability to comprehend, read and communicate in English
- Knowledge of healthful, nutritional-based cuisine preferred
- Passion for food and cooking
- 2 years cooking experience in from scratch environments or culinary education preferred
- Clear communication skills including reading and writing
- Ability to maintain highest standards of conduct and confidentiality
- Experience in customer service or high volume food service preferred
- Service oriented attitude
- Highly organized and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments
Job Duties
- Prepare all food items for execution of line cooks including hot, cold and baked products
- Maintain proper food temperatures during preparation and service
- Pre-prep food according to menu
- Notify chef immediately when food and supplies are not available
- Maintain food production areas in clean, neat and orderly manner
- Clean assigned areas following established cleaning procedures and schedules
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines correctly
- Understand and follow standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen practices
- Collaborate with co-workers
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested by Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager
