Job Description

Seibert Elementary is seeking a dedicated Nutrition/Cafeteria Manager to oversee the daily operations of its school food service program. As part of the school district's commitment to providing healthy, nutritious meals to students, the Nutrition/Cafeteria Manager plays a crucial role in managing all aspects of food preparation, service, and staff supervision at the school site. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • completion of sanitation course certificate
  • must pass an approved pre-placement medical assessment
  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • knowledge of food service regulations and safety standards
  • ability to work eight hours per day, five days per week
  • valid food safety and sanitation certifications preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • completion of sanitation course certificate
  • knowledge of institutional quantity food preparation and cooking methods
  • working knowledge of food storage, production scheduling, business record keeping, kitchen safety and sanitation
  • ability to use modern cooking equipment and computers
  • ability to perform essential duties under general guidance
  • ability to maintain and monitor kitchen environment independently
  • ability to orient and train food service staff
  • ability to perform basic bookkeeping functions
  • ability to read and understand menus, recipes, and preparation instructions
  • knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to reconcile daily money transactions
  • proficient in English reading, writing and speaking

Job Duties

  • Organizes, coordinates, and assigns daily workload to food service staff
  • ensures adequate food product to meet projected quantities
  • provides, coordinates, and assists with the training of food service staff
  • prepares and maintains various records and reports on operations and activities
  • recommends and assists in the implementation of department goals and objectives
  • monitors critical control points to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation
  • monitors and participates in the serving of nutritious meals to students
  • assures cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • orders perishable food items and supplies
  • inspects and leads the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen environment
  • maintains effective working relationships with staff, students and community
  • attends monthly managers meetings and training
  • performs other duties as assigned
