Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handlers Health Card
  • Proof of MMR and Hepatitis B vaccinations
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment
  • Adherence to safety and sanitation regulations
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills
  • Basic math skills including fractions, percents, and ratios
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items and perform physical duties including stooping and crouching
  • Willingness to work under limited supervision
  • Capability to use office and kitchen software applications
  • Experience with cash handling and record reconciliation
  • Positive attitude towards teamwork and flexibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and public

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in food service management preferred

Job Duties

  • Clean utensils, equipment, and food preparation and serving areas to maintain sanitary conditions
  • Estimate food preparation amounts and adjust recipes to meet projected meal requirements and minimize waste
  • Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature to ensure student and staff acceptance
  • Implement menu plans for school meals and catered events to meet mandated nutritional requirements
  • Inspect food and supply deliveries to verify quantity, quality, and compliance with health regulations
  • Inventory food, condiments, supplies, and equipment to ensure availability for menu requirements
  • Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas to meet health standards
  • Manage site operations including supervision of personnel and monitoring meals to ensure compliance with nutritional and health requirements
  • Order food, equipment, and supplies to maintain adequate inventory and budget compliance
  • Oversee preparation, cooking, serving, and transportation of food and beverages to meet meal quantities and nutritional standards
  • Participate in meetings, training, and workshops to gather and convey job-related information
  • Perform other nutritional services tasks as needed to ensure adequate staffing
  • Prepare documentation such as production sheets, reconciliation reports, and cash summaries
  • Process receipts and bank deposits
  • Handle free and reduced meal applications to determine eligibility
  • Reconcile transactions to maintain account balances
  • Respond to inquiries regarding food items and service policies
  • Schedule work hours and assignments for cafeteria employees
  • Serve food items to meet nutritional requirements
  • Stock food and supplies to maintain adequate quantity and security
  • Supervise and train food service workers to maximize workforce efficiency
