Job Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist and lift 50 lbs
  • exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, mechanical and electrical hazards
  • completion of twelfth grade or equivalent
  • three years of responsible food service experience including one year supervisory
  • one year of scratch cooking
  • possession of ServSafe certification
  • ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification within five months
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to train, supervise and organize food service personnel
  • ability to prepare reports and maintain records
  • compliance with Local, State and Federal regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Three years of responsible food service experience including one year of supervisory experience
  • one year of scratch cooking experience
  • completion of twelfth grade or equivalent supplemented by specialized training or coursework in food preparation or food service management
  • possession of and maintenance of ServSafe certification
  • ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification within five months
  • strong communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • ability to train and supervise staff
  • knowledge of food service operations, sanitation standards, and relevant laws and regulations
  • proficiency in operating kitchen equipment and Point of Sale systems
  • ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records

Job Duties

  • Plan, prioritize, assign and supervise the work of staff responsible for food service activities
  • supervise the use and operation of kitchen utensils, equipment and appliances
  • train employees in work methods, techniques and equipment operation
  • respond to student and staff inquiries courteously and resolve complaints
  • prepare and maintain records and reports on operations
  • utilize a Point of Sale system
  • order and prepare food to meet menu requirements and manage inventory
  • review food item invoices for accuracy
  • maintain and operate within a budget
  • perform major cooking tasks for school meals according to menus
  • participate in menu and facility planning
  • recommend and implement food service goals and policies
  • ensure sanitation standards are met
  • perform full range of food service duties
  • attend meetings and trainings
  • ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal regulations
  • administer First Aid and CPR as authorized
  • perform other related duties as assigned
