Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • minimum four years experience in restaurant, hotel, club, healthcare, or contract cooking required
  • knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations required
  • proficiency in multiple cooking techniques required
  • good communication skills required
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • able to interact positively with customers
  • medium work involving exertion of up to 50 pounds
  • able to stand, walk, balance, carry, lift, pull, reach, speak, stoop, twist
  • physical activities as occasional to constant as per job description
  • preferred ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification
  • preferred some college or Associates Degree

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum four years experience in restaurant, hotel, or club as a line cook or minimum four years experience in healthcare or contract cooking
  • knowledge of food safety codes including HACCP
  • knowledge of recipes and special diets
  • skilled in various food production methods including baking, frying, grilling, sauteing, and steaming
  • strong verbal communication skills
  • ability to interact warmly with customers
  • able to read, write, and carry out oral and written instructions accurately
  • preferred certification in ServSafe Food Protection Manager
  • preferred some college coursework or associates degree in Culinary
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
  • basic math skills

Job Duties

  • Assists the Lead Line Production Cook and Sous Chef with daily operations of the Cafe Stations
  • perform productivity audits and identify training needs
  • prepare food for patients, visitors, and staff according to daily menus and production sheets
  • assemble final plate presentations with attention to detail
  • interact and support patients, families, hospital staff, and Food Service team in a professional and welcoming manner
  • maintain a clean and sanitized work environment according to department guidelines
  • prepare ingredients per departmental standards for cycle and Room Service menus
  • perform other related duties as assigned including Room Service and catered events
