Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- one year of cooking experience in a food service operation
- current food handler certificate
- ability to stand for long periods
- ability to lift, carry, push, pull and maneuver supplies
- willingness to work flexible schedules including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and events
- ability to use hot surfaces, sharp objects, and commercial equipment
- pass pre-employment criminal history background check
- pass pre-employment drug test
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- associates degree preferred
- one year of cooking experience in a food service operation required
- three years or more of cooking experience in a food service operation preferred
- current food handler certificate
- exceptional customer service and communication skills
- ability to multi-task
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- attention to detail
- ability to follow café recipes accurately
- ability to maintain high standards of sanitization and cleanliness
- ability to identify and resolve problems
- adhere to college, state, and local procedures, rules, and regulations
- promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
Job Duties
- Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies in preparation for service
- ensure food is prepared and served in compliance with local and state health code regulations including temperature, taste, and smell
- perform various tasks simultaneously including preparing a variety of menu items with varying cook times and preparation requirements
- prep station before and after service
- observe and promote continual improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- ensure open communication between front and back of house to maintain quality and timely service
- maintain a high standard of sterilization and cleaning procedures
- observe, identify, and report issues that would affect service in a timely and respectful manner to appropriate staff and management
- offer outstanding customer service to students, faculty and staff by preparing food or drinks and regular cleaning
- interact with all levels of departmental personnel, students, vendors, community, and management professionally and respectfully
- complete cross-training in essential café functions to support operational continuity, maintain consistent service standards, and assist in multiple service areas as needed
- perform other work-related duties as needed
- actively engage in a culture of caring by embracing AC Core Values
