The Barista position at James River Church’s James River Cafe is integral to the church's hospitality and community outreach efforts. Under the direction of the Food Services Director and Campus Cafe Lead, the barista provides exceptional food and beverage service to all customers. This role is not only about preparing and serving coffee but also acting as an information point due to the need for thorough knowledge of the building layout. The ideal candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent social skills and maintain a professional and positive demeanor at all times. The barista is thoroughly trained on the specific procedures for making coffee drinks at the James River Cafe and the daily operational functions needed to run the cafe smoothly.

This part-time role includes a defined schedule primarily involving Sunday mornings and select Wednesday evenings, aligning with times of increased activity and service within the church campus. The scheduled shifts require punctuality and flexibility from the candidate, as these times are fixed and critical for church events. Responsibilities span handling monetary transactions accurately, operating espresso and brewing machines with skill, performing baking and cleaning tasks, and adhering strictly to safety and open/close procedures. Moreover, the barista must be capable of adapting quickly to operational changes and implementing solutions effectively.
