Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of customer service and cash handling experience preferred
  • Must meet requirements of employment background check
  • Must have/obtain Food Handlers Card
  • Availability on weekdays, weekends, holidays, and some evenings for Special Events
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication
  • Creative approaches to problems and unique scenarios
  • Customer-service orientation
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines and changing environments
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Comfortable in large groups of people
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic mathematic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages desirable

Job Duties

  • Welcome and acknowledge all visitors to the cafe
  • Inform families on/enforce all Museum Safety Protocols
  • Process credit card, cash, and other monetary transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Prepare coffees and teas with espresso machines, coffee brewers, and other machinery
  • Meet Department Revenue Goals
  • Promote all current sales and discounts
  • Refresh cafe dining room by wiping tables, sweeping floors, and removing waste
  • Communicate positively and professionally to co-workers at all levels of the organization
  • Balance and manage daily cash drawers
  • Stay up to date on museum policies, exhibits, and events
  • Other duties as assigned
