Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- available to work part-time including Wednesday through Monday with flexibility for evenings and special events
- able to stand and perform physical tasks for extended periods
- reliable transportation or means to commute
- ability to follow museum policies and procedures
- commitment to upholding museum values of respect, integrity, excellence, creativity, and collaboration
- willingness to undergo background check
- ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences
- capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in food service or customer service roles preferred
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- proficiency in using POS systems
- passion for art, food, and hospitality
- ability to work effectively as part of a team
- attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
- problem-solving skills and ability to handle visitor concerns professionally
- basic knowledge of menu and bar items or willingness to learn
- enthusiasm for providing excellent visitor experiences
Job Duties
- Creates an exceptional first impression with museum visitors
- greets visitors actively with smiles and eye contact from arrival through departure
- maintains cleanliness and safety standards
- sets up café and service areas for events including linen, service ware, glassware, bar set-up, and stocking
- ensures tables are clear, set up appropriately, and presentable before seating guests
- serves tables efficiently including order taking, accuracy confirmation, food preparation, drink refills, and clearing tables
- inputs orders into the POS system ensuring accurate sales records
- communicates pertinent museum information to guests
- maintains knowledge of menu and bar offerings and educates visitors
- handles and resolves visitor concerns, escalating as needed
- collaborates with associates, culinary team, and management to ensure food quality and visitor experience
- engages visitors in conversation during dining or events
- assists bus persons in bussing, cleaning, and setting tables
- upholds service standards at catering events
- performs other assigned event duties
