Job Requirements
- Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
- Must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth
- Ability to relate well to all age levels and backgrounds
- Facilitate community living with youth in a cabin or tent platform
- Ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities
- Physically fit and able to hike, walk, stand, bend and lift comfortably
- Mentally and visually alert to recognize potential hazards and emergencies
- Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer emergency care
Job Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age on or before August 1 of the summer season
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification
- Oxygen certification
- First aid certification
- Prior experience with youth or family programming
Job Duties
- Responsible for the health, safety, welfare, and personal development of youth campers on a 24-hour basis
- Facilitate an engaging group living experience in an outdoor environment for campers
- Provide camper supervision within established policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines
- Actively plan to teach campers in recreation, environmental studies, and social skills
- Monitor camper eating habits, health, relationships, and hygiene
- Alert maintenance personnel of repairs needed to equipment or facility
- Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and staff meetings
- Act as a positive role model for campers and staff
- Evaluate current season and make suggestions for future season
- Play an active role in all camp activities
- Work stay over weekends as assigned
- May work one week as housekeeping, office, kitchen, or maintenance crew
- Perform other duties as assigned
