Job Requirements

  • Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
  • Must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth
  • Ability to relate well to all age levels and backgrounds
  • Facilitate community living with youth in a cabin or tent platform
  • Ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities
  • Physically fit and able to hike, walk, stand, bend and lift comfortably
  • Mentally and visually alert to recognize potential hazards and emergencies
  • Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer emergency care

Job Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age on or before August 1 of the summer season
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification
  • Oxygen certification
  • First aid certification
  • Prior experience with youth or family programming

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the health, safety, welfare, and personal development of youth campers on a 24-hour basis
  • Facilitate an engaging group living experience in an outdoor environment for campers
  • Provide camper supervision within established policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines
  • Actively plan to teach campers in recreation, environmental studies, and social skills
  • Monitor camper eating habits, health, relationships, and hygiene
  • Alert maintenance personnel of repairs needed to equipment or facility
  • Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and staff meetings
  • Act as a positive role model for campers and staff
  • Evaluate current season and make suggestions for future season
  • Play an active role in all camp activities
  • Work stay over weekends as assigned
  • May work one week as housekeeping, office, kitchen, or maintenance crew
  • Perform other duties as assigned
