Job Requirements

  • Age 18 or older
  • minimum one year experience in residential youth camp
  • demonstrate creativity in arts, culture, health, fitness, and outdoor activities
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to engage with diverse groups
  • obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • one or more years' experience working in a resident youth camp setting
  • creativity and knowledge in subjects such as arts, culture, health, fitness, and the outdoors
  • ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse ages, backgrounds, and experiences
  • First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent service to program participants, ensuring their needs are met
  • prioritize participant safety by following emergency and safety protocols
  • build respectful, meaningful relationships with staff, parents, and campers
  • maintain a professional appearance and conduct in interactions with others
  • foster connections among campers and with the YMCA community
  • ensure health, hygiene, and safety are top priorities for all campers
  • support campers in understanding and appreciating their environment
  • recognize and encourage campers for personal growth and positive behavior
  • supervise and live with a cabin group, following the camp schedule to meet campers' needs
  • plan and lead engaging activities that support personal growth and social skills
  • maintain appropriate camper discipline according to camp standards
  • keep camp and cabin areas clean and encourage respect for facilities and the environment
  • ensure compliance with YMCA, American Camp Association, and all local, state, and federal standards to provide a safe and positive experience for campers and staff
  • submit reports, including incident reports, health logs, and timecards accurately and on time
  • actively participate in cabin, unit, and camp-wide activities, and assist in program areas
