Job Requirements
- Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
- must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth and relate well to all age levels and backgrounds
- facilitate community living with youth in a cabin or tent platform
- ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities
- physically fit and able to hike, walk, stand, bend and lift comfortably throughout the day
- mentally and visually alert to recognize potential hazards and accidents
- physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer emergency care effectively
Job Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age on or before August 1st of the summer season
- high school diploma or equivalent required
- CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification
- oxygen and first aid certifications
- prior experience with youth or family programming
Job Duties
- Responsible for the health, safety, welfare, and personal development of youth campers on a 24-hour basis
- facilitate an engaging group living experience in an outdoor environment for campers
- provide camper supervision within established policies and risk management guidelines
- actively plan and lead small and large group activities in recreation, environmental studies, and social skills
- monitor camper eating habits, health, relationships, and hygiene
- alert maintenance personnel of repairs needed to equipment or facility
- prepare for and participate in staff training and meetings
- act as a positive role model demonstrating values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
- evaluate current season and suggest improvements for future seasons
- participate actively in all camp activities
- work stay-over weekends as assigned
- may work one week in housekeeping, office, kitchen, or maintenance crew
- perform other duties as assigned
