Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three months experience in clerical or customer service position preferred
  • Specific certification or licensing based on state requirements
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals
  • Ability to understand verbal instruction
  • Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Must be able to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts
  • Attendance and punctuality required
  • Utilize all required and appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, tug, and pull up to thirty-five pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel
  • Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens
  • Ability to view video display terminal less than 18 inches away for up to four hours
  • Ability to work in environment with temperature of -40 degrees Celsius or colder
  • Occasional exposure to dry ice
  • Ability to perform precise, repetitive small motor tasks
  • Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication

Job Duties

  • Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations
  • Maintain high level of customer service and positive donor experience
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and stock sufficient supplies
  • Maintain donor center equipment according to procedures
  • Monitor donor conditions ensuring safety and product quality
  • Maintain donor confidentiality
  • Maintain complete and accurate record keeping
  • Troubleshoot machine alarms and perform quality controls
  • Clean blood or plasma spills and handle biohazardous waste
  • Perform donor eligibility evaluations including vitals and finger stick tests
  • Register applicant donors
  • Prepare and operate equipment for plasma collection
  • Disconnect donors and ensure donor safety during procedures
  • Operate automated plasmapheresis machines and respond to alerts
  • Collect and store plasma and samples sterilely
  • Handle product based on testing results
  • Organize product in storage freezers
  • Prepare products and samples for shipment
  • Monitor and record equipment temperatures
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned
