Job Requirements

  • Physical exam and lift test required
  • Ability to handle medium weight objects (20-50 lbs)
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures
  • Ability to work from ladders or in awkward positions
  • Must be physically capable of pushing heavy carts and lifting items up to 50 lbs multiple times daily
  • Periodic exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  • Must be a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worthy to hold a current temple recommend

Job Qualifications

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Two years of experience in catering or a related food service business
  • Ability to supervise and train student employees
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Experience with event setup and customer service

Job Duties

  • Coordinate with the customer regarding room set up and final service instructions
  • Coordinate with banquet captain for needed equipment
  • Consult with culinary staff for proper plate design and serving of meal
  • Supervise student staff at the event
  • Consult with custodial services regarding room setup
  • Assist with training of student staff by conducting or participating in training meetings
  • Serve as wedding coordinator for BYU Catering as assigned
