Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1+ years server assistance experience required in the hospitality industry such as hotel, restaurant, or nightclub
  • equivalent combination of education and experience
  • San Diego County Food Handlers Card must be turned in within 30 days of employment
  • completion of anti-harassment and nondiscrimination 1-hour class
  • Responsible Alcohol Service (RBS) certification must be turned in when training concludes
  • must be able to sit, stand or walk for up to 8 hours at a time
  • must be able to lift at least 50 pounds safely and properly
  • must be able to bend, stoop, and climb
  • must be able to push and pull

Job Duties

  • Work closely with FOH team and other hotel staff to ensure smooth service
  • promptly clear and reset tables after guests leave
  • keep dining areas free of dirty plates and glassware
  • maintain cleanliness of the dining areas including floors, chairs, and service stations
  • set up dining areas before service begins including placing tableware, linens, and condiments
  • assist in restocking supplies such as napkins, silverware, glassware, and condiments
  • help maintain cleanliness and organization in the back-of-house and service areas
  • remove trash, recyclables, and empty bottles regularly and safely
  • fill water glasses when necessary
  • clear empty food plates when guest is finished
  • wipe down and sanitize tables when guests are done eating
  • keep the restaurant stocked with adequate supplies throughout service
  • help with dishes when we are backed up
  • follow all food safety, sanitation, and alcohol handling guidelines
  • run food to tables and ensure guests receive their correct order
  • handle the food to ensure optimal temperature
  • report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisor
  • respond promptly to guest requests and alert servers or supervisors when needed
  • uphold all standards for cleanliness, service, and guest satisfaction
  • adhere to all hotel policies, health regulations, and safety standards
  • greet each guest with a good attitude and a smile
