Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Florida Class C Driver's License
- Clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Ability to perform bus driver duties safely and efficiently
- Pass required background and education verification checks
- Availability to work up to 1040 hours in a 12-month period
- Compliance with Polk State College policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Florida Class C Commercial Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of vehicle safety
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills
- Preferred previous experience operating transit buses or commercial vehicles with a Class C license
Job Duties
- Transport athletic teams to sporting events throughout Central Florida and outside the region as necessary
- Work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and possible overnight trips with room and meal allowances
- Transport students and college personnel between main and satellite campuses including Lakeland, Winter Haven, Lake Wales, and Bartow
- Operate buses safely, courteously, and efficiently in compliance with local, state, and traffic laws
- Regulate HVAC systems on buses to ensure passenger comfort
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of bus interior and mechanical conditions including fluids and tires
- Maintain operational records and weekly trip reports
- Instruct passengers on safety rules and ensure their compliance
- Assume full responsibility for passenger safety during transport
