Job Requirements
- any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities
- six months of experience performing automotive service work
- formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
- possession of or ability to obtain within six months a North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsements
- ability to maintain insurability

Job Duties
- perform routine and non-complex service and repair work on a variety of equipment and vehicles in assigned department
- run errands
- retrieve parts, tools and other materials needed for mechanical repair
- pick up and deliver vehicles and equipment from various locations such as outside garages, body shops, vendors, and dealers
- perform routine preventive maintenance of cars and trucks
- fuel, grease and lubricate automobiles, trucks and heavy automotive equipment
- ensure appropriate fluid levels
- install and service batteries, spark plugs, light bulbs, fan belts and other simple mechanical parts
- service automotive equipment with gasoline, alternative fuel, and oil
- keep records of amounts used
- perform service calls
- make temporary repairs
- pick up parts
- road test vehicles to ensure proper operation
- clean and repair shop and equipment
- assist other automotive technicians in the performance of mechanical repairs as required
- assist in general maintenance and cleanliness of automotive shop area
