Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must be able to communicate and understand simple directions in English
- Must be able to read MSDS and chemical labels
- Ability to follow safety and infection control guidelines
- Physical ability to perform cleaning duties including lifting moving and operating cleaning equipment
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Prior cleaning experience in healthcare setting preferred
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate and understand simple directions in English
- Must be able to read MSDS and chemical labels
- One to two years experience cleaning in a health care environment preferred but not required
- Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of hospital safety protocols including RACE PASS chemical safety MSDS HIPAA and infection control procedures
Job Duties
- Sweeps floors mops floors vacuums carpets collects trash polishes floors using buffing and burnishing machines performs high dusting spot washes and doors removes marks cleans and makes beds spot wall washing washes toilets cleans furniture empties trash receptacles cleans Venetian blinds shades radiators railings stairways lights vents and doors removes and hangs cubicle and shower curtains uses ladder to clean door frames and picture frames washes porters closets equipment replenishes cleaning supplies communicates via telephone and pager for Bed Tracking system uses computer Bed Tracking system performs 7-Cleaning Steps for each patient room daily provides discharge cleaning as required maintains established safety infection control guidelines follows departmental safety guidelines when using equipment utilizes proper body mechanics requests assistance when lifting heavy items wears gloves follows infection control procedures washes hands frequently advises supervisor of hazardous conditions posts wet floor signs prevents accidents picks up and disinfects areas soiled by blood body fluids disinfects bathrooms restocks supplies removes finger marks from walls doors and surfaces vacuums carpet spots moves items necessary to vacuum entire area polishes floors using burnishing machines removes marks from floors sets up discharge rooms for admission keeps adequate supplies controls tools and equipment performs complete thorough cleaning empties trash receptacles disposes of trash properly sweeps hard floor surfaces uses clean dust mops changes mopping solution regularly
