Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • English language proficiency required
  • multilingual proficiency preferred
  • ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds
  • ability to perform stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, twisting, bending, climbing, and repetitive movements
  • Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization
  • successful completion of post-offer physical exam
  • reliable and safety conscious
  • availability to work Monday-Friday 2:30 PM-11:00 PM split between two schools

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • proficiency in English
  • preferred multilingual proficiency
  • ability to perform manual labor including lifting at least 50 pounds
  • familiarity with custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals
  • good physical condition to handle repetitive motions and physical tasks
  • ability to work split shift schedule
  • basic maintenance and safety knowledge

Job Duties

  • clean building areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and cafeterias
  • empty trash containers and dispose of waste properly
  • dust, mop, disinfect, wash, polish, and wipe surfaces
  • perform painting and minor maintenance tasks
  • remove or shovel snow from walkways and entrances
  • receive and stock custodial supplies
  • strip and wax floors
  • operate cleaning machinery and lifting equipment
  • replace light bulbs and perform general upkeep
  • report any hazards or maintenance issues
  • secure buildings after hours
  • follow directions from head custodian and follow safety protocols
