Job Requirements
- Six months of commercial cleaning experience
- Six months experience working with commercial cleaning equipment such as floor care equipment
- Valid Class C driver's license
- Ability to provide a current three-year driving record
- Obtain Texas driver's license within 30 days if not a Texas resident
- Pass strength and agility testing prior to employment
Job Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED
- More than one year of janitorial experience in a large institution
- More than one year experience with vacuum cleaners, buffers, and floor machines
- More than one year experience stripping and refinishing vinyl tile floors
- Experience in building services at the University of Texas
- Experience cleaning offices and/or apartments
- Experience inspecting apartments and submitting written work requests
- Demonstrated ability to follow verbal work instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Job Duties
- Perform custodial cleaning duties in apartments including dusting, wiping light fixtures and ceiling fans
- Strip and wax vinyl composite tile (VCT) floors with three coats of wax and clean floor edges
- Sweep and mop vinyl plank floors thoroughly
- Clean interior and exterior windows and wipe window blinds
- Wipe cabinets, shelving, air conditioning vents, and exhaust fans
- Clean sinks, showers, and fixtures
- Thoroughly clean stove and refrigerator units
- Sweep and mop laundry room floors and dust surfaces including air conditioning and return air vents
- Clean and wipe down laundry machines including soap trays and windows
- Remove trash to outside dumpster
- Conduct monthly floor scrubbing in laundry areas to remove soap residue
- Inspect apartments for maintenance needs and submit written work requests
- Participate in fire and life safety inspections four times annually
- Escort contractors and assist with fire extinguisher replacement
- Maintain cleaning supplies storage and organize equipment
- Clean machine rooms and respond to emergency cleaning issues
- Clean breakroom, community rooms, restrooms, maintenance shop, and inventory warehouse including high dusting of furniture and desks
- Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, stalls, showers, and exhaust fan grills
- Sweep, mop, and disinfect floors
- Replenish tissue, soap, and disposal bags as needed
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, and student residents regarding repairs and work order statuses
- Follow written and oral instructions from supervisor
- Complete all requested paperwork and reports
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and report unsafe conditions
- Fill out injury report forms if injured
- Drive UT vehicle to transport equipment and supplies to work sites
- Promote professional development through ongoing training and workshops
