Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, and standing
  • availability to work 19 hours per week
  • basic understanding of safety and security protocols
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • reliable and punctual
  • excellent customer service orientation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • strong communication and customer service skills
  • basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Spanish speaking skills highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Performing general cleaning and light custodial functions in the upkeep of assigned areas in City buildings
  • cleaning restrooms
  • refilling soap and paper dispensers
  • emptying and cleaning waste containers regularly
  • locking and unlocking doors to ensure security of buildings and related areas
  • activating or deactivating alarms
  • checking for and reporting fire and safety hazards
  • reporting graffiti
  • setting up tables, chairs, and other equipment for meetings and special events
  • monitoring safe use of City facilities and equipment
  • performing other related projects and duties as assigned
