Job Requirements
- minimum age 18
- mimimum high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced, retail environment
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work with customers attentively
- ability to perform department-specific physical tasks such as lifting, reaching, bending, standing, and walking

Job Duties
- provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products
- assists them with selections
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department/store operating procedures
- records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery)
- assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., baking, frying, and decorating) (bakery)
- culls bakery products for poor quality, expiration dates (bakery)
- takes care of service counter customers (deli)
- uses ordering system applications (deli)
- uses Fresh Production Planner (deli)
- performs inventory management processes (MSI, PAW) as required (deli)
- ensures catering orders are prepared and ready in time for customer pickup (if applicable) (deli)
- performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers (deli)
- serves/packages products at customer request (prepared foods)
- educates customers on preparation/reheating instructions of prepared foods (prepared foods)
- prepackages condiments (sauces, dressings) for prepared food items (prepared foods)
- cuts, slices, dices, chops food in preparation for chef (prepared foods)
