Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years of experience as a line cook or in a similar culinary role preferred
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain timing
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse team
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to perform tasks including standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs

Job Qualifications

  • One or more years of previous experience as a line cook or similar culinary role is preferred
  • High school education plus schooling in culinary arts or related major
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques and food preparation methods
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet timing requirements
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepare and portion ingredients for various dishes following recipes and guidelines
  • Cook and grill a diverse range of menu items including meats, seafood, vegetables, and sauces with precision
  • Set up and organize the cooking station with necessary tools, equipment, and ingredients before service
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure all components of a dish are ready simultaneously and maintain efficiency during busy periods
  • Inspect ingredients and finished dishes for quality, taste, and appearance and address any issues promptly
  • Follow food safety and sanitation practices to prevent cross-contamination, spoilage, and health hazards
  • Understand menu offerings including ingredients, preparation methods, and plating techniques
  • Assist with menu changes and updates
  • Keep the cooking station clean and organized
  • Ensure equipment and utensils are properly maintained
  • Monitor ingredient levels and notify kitchen manager or chef of any shortages or stock requirements
  • Work closely with the kitchen team, communicating effectively and maintaining a positive working environment
  • Be flexible and willing to take on different tasks or responsibilities as needed in a fast-paced kitchen environment
