Job Description
The Student Union, Inc. at San Jose State University is a nonprofit auxiliary organization classified under 501(c)(3) that operates and maintains three primary facilities in downtown San Jose, California. These facilities are the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, the Provident Credit Union Event Center, and the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center. Job Requirements
- Must be a current matriculated SJSU student
- Prior customer service experience preferred
- Prior experience in Bowling Center or related recreational environment preferred
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain prior to first shift
- Ability to work up to 20 hours per week during school session
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during school break
- Must undergo successful background check and fingerprinting
- Must comply with California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act
- Ability to work safely with chemicals and hand/power tools
Job Qualifications
- Must be a current matriculated SJSU student
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Previous experience in Bowling Center or related recreational environment preferred
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, American Red Cross preferred, or ability to obtain prior to first shift
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Ability to troubleshoot pinsetter malfunctions and operate lane conditioning machine
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment
- Ability to serve guests in a polite and professional manner
- Ability to follow and give directions
- Ability to assist with emergency situations
Job Duties
- Responsible for general daily and preventive maintenance of bowling center equipment including pinsetters, lane conditioning machine, billiard tables, and other equipment
- Performs cleanup and security duties including wiping tables and counters, sweeping, mopping or vacuuming floors, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, and washing windows
- Enforces facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Operates the Bowling Center in absence of supervisory staff
- Responds to emergency situations based on EAP training
- Handles customer transactions at the control desk
- Prepares and initiates the start of Bowling Classes, Bowling Team Practice, Leagues, Special Events, and reservations
- Operates POS terminal, credit card machine, receipt and report printers
- Reports resolved and unresolved issues to Bowling Center management
- Properly opens and closes shifts with associated reports and documentation
