Job Requirements

  • Neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service standards and etiquette
  • Ability to serve alcohol if required
  • Tuberculosis clearance by Department of Health (Hawaii only)
  • Appropriate state food handlers card (Washington only)
  • Fluent in English
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stand and walk constantly
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and twist frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs and move up to 50lbs
  • Ability to operate and clean various kitchen equipment
  • Ability to operate, load, and unload trash compactor
  • Willingness to work between 4-6 hours per shift and at least 35 hours weekly including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Two of three work availability times must be weekend shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to multiple job stations
  • Customer service experience is a plus
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures
  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food preparation techniques

Job Duties

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures
  • Maintains kitchen cleanliness and organization consistently
  • Ensures proper sanitation of kitchen area according to company standards
  • Works with management to maintain cleanliness of restaurant premises
  • Ensures customer satisfaction with dining experience daily
  • Demonstrates and upholds customer service standards
  • Handles disgruntled customers and complaints professionally
  • Notifies supervisor or manager of any customer complaints
  • Attends pre/post-shift briefings and meetings
  • Learns and becomes competent in all duty stations
  • Performs essential back-of-house functions including prep cook, sushi cook, fry cook, dishwasher
  • Operates various stations including fryer, dishwasher, prep, maki, gunkan, nigari, take-out
  • Prepares food according to company recipes and standards
  • Ensures food delivered meets quality, presentation, and portion controls
  • Rotates food products using FIFO method
  • Maintains kitchen and center cleanliness and sanitation
  • Completes daily opening, mid, and closing duties
  • Assists with storage and organization of deliveries
  • Follows safe stock levels
  • Communicates operational issues to supervisors
  • Performs duties assigned by management
  • Works all scheduled shifts
  • Notifies management of personnel changes
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings
  • Adheres to OSHA, food, and sanitation requirements
