Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid USCG captain's license or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in boat piloting or maritime navigation
  • Ability to work extended shifts and live on vessel for 7 to 14 days
  • Physical capability to perform duties on board and in varying weather conditions
  • Compliance with drug, alcohol, and safety policies
  • Willingness to work weekends as required

Job Qualifications

  • Valid USCG captain's license or equivalent
  • Experience piloting boats or barges in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Knowledge of USCG regulations and maritime safety standards
  • Ability to maintain accurate logs and reports
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work on a rotating schedule and live aboard vessel for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Safely navigate the barge or tow while assuring the remainder of the crew performs their daily functions
  • Operate in strict compliance with all company policies and USCG compliance regulations pertaining to drug, alcohol, pollution, and safety
  • Ensure vessel navigation equipment, VHF radios, machinery, rigging, and all related equipment are in operating order
  • Maintain an accurate and current log
  • Timely investigate all accidents occurring during their shift involving boat and crew and make reports to the main office
