Job Requirements

  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proven experience in a similar role may substitute education
  • Acute care experience within the last three years
  • Previous experience as Charge Nurse or Nursing Supervisor preferred
  • Operating Room experience required
  • Trauma OR experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain State of Nevada Registered Nurse license or national certification as Surgical Technologist within 2 years
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required for RN
  • BLS certification required for certified surgical technologist
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Completion of RNFA or CFA program required for first assist duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and external agencies
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of nursing process, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to respond to emergency codes and handle critical patient situations
  • Must maintain professional conduct and adhere to organizational policies

Job Duties

  • Supports nursing leadership in the provision of quality care
  • maintains productivity and patient throughput
  • assigns or floats staff to meet patient care needs and address productivity standards
  • performs daily rounds within the operating rooms to ensure quality patient care and core measure compliance
  • provides immediate attention to customer service issues and service recovery
  • communicates patient condition reports and pertinent data to families and authorized parties
  • facilitates patient throughput with peri-operative team
  • responds to Code Red and Code Blue pages as appropriate
  • assists managers and directors in counseling, discipline process, and investigatory follow up
  • assumes administrative role when administrative personnel are not present
  • maintains professional behavior and adheres to codes of conduct and policies
  • supports ancillary service areas
  • documents and investigates concerns from staff, patients, visitors, and medical staff
  • facilitates transfer of critical patients and ensures COBRA compliance
  • participates in leadership and quality committees
  • provides coaching, competency assessment, and feedback for staff evaluations
