Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in music therapy or related field
  • current board certification as a music therapist
  • experience working with hospice or seriously ill patients
  • valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout service area
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • ability to work PRN schedule averaging 25-29 hours per week
  • adherence to American Music Therapy Association standards
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to provide compassionate care

Job Qualifications

  • Board certification in music therapy
  • clinical experience in music therapy
  • knowledge of hospice and end-of-life care principles
  • ability to work independently and as part of interdisciplinary teams
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to manage caseload effectively
  • familiarity with documentation standards and clinical assessments
  • commitment to continuing education and professional development

Job Duties

  • Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings, continuing education, and workshops
  • participate in interdisciplinary team meetings
  • assist in developing care plans
  • facilitate understanding of music therapy interventions
  • participate in orientation, volunteer training, and presentations
  • participate on hospice committees
  • maintain focus on weekly scheduling and productivity
  • maintain standards of excellence according to professional and hospice policies
  • perform music therapy assessments and develop goal-directed family care plans
  • document timely and accurate patient care records
  • provide direct music therapy services in various settings
  • consult with clinical staff about referrals
  • participate in program development and research
  • provide bereavement follow-up
  • supervise practicum students after approval
  • consult and collaborate with other professionals
  • demonstrate professional respect
  • perform additional duties as assigned
