Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Ability to speak, read and write English to the extent required by the position
  • Willingness and ability to lift or carry 50 lbs or more
  • Capacity for frequent prolonged standing and walking
  • Capability to push, pull or move heavy equipment and supplies
  • Willingness to perform considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching
  • Availability to work days with every other weekend and holidays
  • Commitment to follow hospital safety and infection control standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English as required by the position
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform heavy physical work
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment and proper use of cleaning agents
  • Awareness of hospital infection control protocols
  • Ability to follow instructions and participate in training programs
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety

Job Duties

  • Operate all cleaning equipment used by the department for various cleaning or buffing jobs
  • Move heavy objects such as beds, desks, copy machines
  • Identify medical waste from regular waste and dispose of both appropriately following hospital regulations
  • Participate in mandatory educational and in-service programs
  • Maintain departmental policies, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  • Perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, washing, and vacuuming floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning agents
  • Strip and wax floors throughout hospital and outside properties
  • Wash and disinfect sinks and plumbing thoroughly using appropriate agents
  • Perform related duties as assigned or requested
