Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in beverage management, bar management, or a senior bartending role in an upscale or fine dining environment
  • Proven experience managing and scheduling bartending teams
  • Strong knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, and classic and modern mixology
  • Experience with banquet and high-volume beverage operations preferred
  • Demonstrated success with inventory control, ordering, vendor relations, and cost management
  • Excellent leadership, training, and communication skills
  • ServSafe Alcohol, TIPS, or equivalent responsible service certification preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and active bar shifts
  • Professional appearance and guest-focused demeanor

Job Duties

  • Oversee and manage the full beverage program, including wine, beer, spirits, cocktails, and non-alcoholic offerings for both restaurant and banquet operations
  • Directly manage, lead, and schedule a team of 6-7 bartenders, ensuring proper coverage, performance standards, and labor efficiency
  • Work scheduled bar shifts 2-3 days per week, leading by example during service
  • Create, maintain, and update wine lists, cocktail menus, and beverage offerings in alignment with the William Penn Inn’s standards and seasonal direction
  • Develop seasonal and specialty beverage menus in coordination with culinary leadership
  • Handle all restaurant and banquet beverage ordering, inventory management, and receiving
  • Select, source, and negotiate pricing with vendors and distributors
  • maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Monitor and control beverage costs, pricing, and profitability to meet budget goals
  • Train bartenders and service staff on beverage knowledge, service standards, upselling, and responsible alcohol service
  • Oversee bar setup, cleanliness, organization, and equipment maintenance
  • Monitor beverage quality, consistency, and presentation during service
  • Ensure compliance with all state and local alcohol service laws and regulations
  • Support beverage execution for banquets, weddings, private events, and special functions
