Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five to seven years of progressive management experience in upscale hotel beverage operations
- Certification or training in alcohol service such as TIPS or Responsible Vendor
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication abilities
- Ability to develop and maintain budgets and operational controls
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of legal requirements related to alcoholic beverage service
- Ability to manage team performance and coach staff
- Experience managing inventories and purchase requisitions
Job Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of wines and spirits
- Knowledge of proper administration and operation of beverage service outlets and legal aspects related to alcoholic beverage delivery
- TIPS certification or equivalent
- five to seven years progressive management experience in large upscale multi-outlet hotel beverage operations
- Ability to develop and maintain effective operating and control processes to achieve maximum efficiency and guest satisfaction
- Certification in Responsible Vendor training or ability to obtain same
- Effective management, leadership, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Maintains beverage department staffing levels to provide optimal performance
- Develops and approves all beverage department budgets, forecasts and schedules
- Establishes and administers all departmental guidelines, policies and procedures
- Manages smooth, efficient, and cost effective operation of all beverage outlets including labor management, inventory control, and product selection
- Oversees supervisory activities to ensure production and delivery of quality product and service
- Approves all department purchase requisitions to maintain operational costs within budget
- Reviews and maintains daily payroll report and records
- Establishes appropriate par levels for all beverage and supply inventories
- Ensures security, control and proper use of operating supplies and equipment
- Attends hotel meetings to stay informed on activities, promotions and events
- Communicates daily with outlet managers and assistants regarding daily and upcoming events
- Evaluates team member performance, sets goals and training needs
- Coaches, counsels and retrains team members to maintain performance standards
- Interviews, selects, trains, appraises, coaches, counsels and disciplines staff according to company policies
- Implements New Hire Training and ongoing service competency programs
- Conducts departmental meetings to communicate hotel information
- Evaluates guest needs and industry changes to recommend operational improvements
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times
- Notifies appropriate individuals of problems or significant matters promptly
- Is polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and colleagues
- Executes emergency procedures as per hotel standards
- Complies with safety regulations and procedures
- Attends hotel meetings and training sessions
- Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area
- Complies with hotel standards, policies, rules and uniform and grooming standards
- Recycles whenever possible
- Remains current with hotel information and changes
