Job Requirements

  • College degree in culinary arts or hospitality management
  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience in hospitality
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the wine industry
  • Level 1 Sommelier Certificate (CMS1) required
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Effective communication skills including talking and hearing
  • Ability to work in varying environments and temperatures
  • Completion of relevant food and beverage training modules
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • College degree in culinary arts or hospitality management
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role in a club, restaurant, or hospitality setting
  • At least 2 years of experience in the wine industry
  • Achieved and maintained Level 1 Sommelier Certificate (CMS1)
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and certification renewal
  • Experience in developing and executing wine and cocktail programs preferred
  • Specialized training in the wine or beverage industry preferred
  • Proven ability to manage a successful beverage program
  • Completion of all food & beverage online training modules
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to engage and educate members and team
  • Familiarity with inventory control and financial management in beverage operations.

Job Duties

  • Oversee inventory management of all wine, beer, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring proper rotation and seasonal ordering
  • Adapt to member interest and changes in beverage standards while maintaining high product quality and availability
  • Manage cellar and storage conditions to preserve optimal aging and quality of wine and other beverages
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director on menu development, ensuring beverage pairings and creating unique drink offerings for events
  • Create imaginative cocktail, beer, and wine menus focused on seasonal, interesting ingredients
  • Ensure staff are trained in proper techniques and recipes
  • Ensure adherence to safety and sanitation practices for beverage storage, presentation, and service
  • Supervise dining room and bar staff, including scheduling, conducting service meetings, and assisting in performance reviews
  • Provide ongoing training on wine, beer, liquor, and other beverage service standards
  • Facilitate educational programs to develop beverage knowledge
  • Engage with members and guests, offering expert wine selections and assistance
  • Work the dining room and bar floor during service to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience
  • Oversee beverage aspects of private events, attending BEO meetings and determining product needs
  • Represent beverage operations at event planning meetings, ensuring excellent member experiences
  • Collaborate with the Private Event team to upsell beverages and menu items
  • Foster strong relationships with the culinary team, members, guests, and vendors
  • Handle professional interactions accommodating last-minute requests
  • Complete additional duties assigned by management
  • Oversee all club beverage programs including wine lists and seasonal cocktail offerings
  • Attend wine committee meetings and contribute to enhancements
  • Manage beverage-related costs and upselling opportunities.
