Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in sommelier or wine steward role
  • Strong wine knowledge and genuine passion for wine, beer, and spirits
  • Ability to provide outstanding guest experiences and work in a team
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and maneuver stairs
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure
  • Commitment to company policies, health, and safety regulations
  • Polished and neat appearance
  • Ability to learn and train staff on beverage knowledge

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years as a sommelier or wine steward in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment
  • Extensive knowledge of wine, winemaking, beer, and spirits
  • Ability to consistently deliver high-quality guest experiences and exceed guest expectations
  • Strong work ethic and team player with exceptional guest service skills
  • Ability to execute guest service with a calm and composed demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Polished presentation
  • Ability to take direction and work independently and in a team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude to resolve problems
  • Fluency in English including reading, writing, basic business mathematics, and POS operation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Maximize beverage sales including wine, beer, and spirits and deliver exceptional guest experiences
  • Drive beverage sales by upselling, suggesting, educating, and interacting with guests
  • Handle table bottle orders from order taking through delivery, proper opening and service, and checkbacks
  • Ensure wine quality before every shift
  • Maintain floor presence during service to attend to guest needs and assist in service as necessary
  • Attend daily pre-shift meetings to communicate beverage product status and conduct trainings and tastings
  • Guide and teach staff about beverage offerings and answer questions to enhance staff education and menu knowledge
  • Participate in daily and monthly beverage inventories including counting, stocking, updating 86 board, and maintaining wine tomes
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and company policies regarding alcoholic beverages and workplace standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of all work areas
  • Perform all other reasonably assigned duties
