Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of hospice philosophy and ethical conduct
  • Ability to deliver grief counseling and coordinate volunteer services
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Valid background and health screenings for volunteer recruitment
  • Willingness to participate in community outreach and events

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Theology, Divinity, or equivalent field strongly preferred
  • Minimum of two years experience in grief, loss, or bereavement support preferred
  • Experience in Social Services, Human Services, or Resource Management helpful
  • Prior experience managing volunteer services or non-profit organizations is a plus

Job Duties

  • Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team including development and implementation of plan of care
  • Works with hospice social worker on pre-bereavement risk assessment and care plan development
  • Develops and implements bereavement plans after patient death
  • Supports bereavement needs of non-family caregivers
  • Supervises volunteer recruitment, training, and performance
  • Coordinates volunteer services to meet patient and family needs
  • Develops and delivers grief support groups and memorial services
