Job Requirements

  • minimum age 18
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • completion of company orientation
  • food safety and sanitation training upon hire

Job Duties

  • provides superior customer service
  • takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections
  • prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
  • uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • operates and maintains equipment properly
  • complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • complies with department and store operating procedures
  • records production and shrink to aid in bakery production planning
  • assists in technical baking, frying, and decorating areas
  • culls bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
  • takes care of service counter customers
  • uses ordering system applications and fresh production planner
  • performs inventory management processes
  • ensures catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup
  • performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
  • serves and packages products at customer’s request
  • educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
  • prepackages condiments for prepared food items
  • cuts, slices, dices, and chops food in preparation for chef
