- Minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to work with customers attentively
- ability to perform department-specific physical tasks including lifting up to 55 lbs

Job Duties
- Provide superior customer service
- take orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answer customer questions regarding products
- assist them with selections
- prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
- slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
- assist in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- clean and sanitize display cases
- operate and maintain equipment properly
- comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- comply with department and store operating procedures
- record production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery)
- assist in technical areas like baking, frying, and decorating (bakery)
- cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
- take care of service counter customers (deli)
- use ordering system applications (deli)
- use Fresh Production Planner (deli)
- perform inventory management processes (deli)
- ensure catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup if applicable (deli)
- perform all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
- serve and package products at customer's request (prepared foods)
- educate customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- prepackage condiments like sauces and dressings for prepared food items
- cut, slice, dice, and chop food in preparation for chef
