Job Requirements
- minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- knowledge of computer systems and equipment such as PC, symbol, scales, label machine
- strong customer service skills
- communication and interpersonal skills
- reading and writing skills
- planning and organizing skills
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to work with customers while staying attentive to their needs
- ability to perform department-specific physical tasks
- ability to lift and manage weights according to department standards

Job Duties
- provide superior customer service
- take orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answer customer questions regarding products
- prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
- slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
- assist in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- clean and sanitize display cases
- operate and maintain equipment properly
- comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- comply with department and store operating procedures
- record production and shrink in bakery
- assist in baking, frying, and decorating in bakery
- cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
- take care of service counter customers in deli
- use ordering system applications in deli
- use Fresh Production Planner in deli
- perform inventory management processes in deli
- ensure catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup
- perform sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
- serve and package products at customer's request in prepared foods
- educate customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- prepackage condiments for prepared food items
- cut, slice, dice, and chop food in preparation for chef
