Job Requirements
- Minimum of two years of education in a program area related to youth or community work
- at least one year of experience working with youth, families, and community development
- knowledge of social and emotional learning and trauma-informed approaches
- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- ability to work with diverse youth and adults
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of education in a program area related to working with youth and/or communities
- minimum of one year of experience working with youth, families, and community development, including social and emotional learning, skill-building, youth leadership, neighborhood priorities, trauma-informed approaches, provision of services for individuals with disabilities, and cultural competence, including sensitivity to LGBTQ issues
- general knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- strong interpersonal skills

- comfortable working with diverse youth and adults
Job Duties
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all staff and participants and promotes a positive program spirit
- facilitate effective outreach to hard-to-reach youth and young adults who do not participate in afterschool or community center programs
- effectively forge relationships with youth who are chronically absent or have dropped out of school and persuade them to engage in Beacon programming and school
- act as a credible messenger, maintain strong community connections, and address conflicts that have the potential to undermine community cohesion and trigger violent clashes
- assist in the marketing and distribution of program information and recruitment in communities that might otherwise attend Beacon programming
- develop and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and parents/guardians through regular communication
- ensure participants' health, safety, and well-being by understanding, maintaining, and ensuring that staff and participants follow Risk Management and safety procedures
- report all incidents in accordance with the Y policies and procedures
- work with counselors and the Beacon Director to plan and implement meaningful programming and special events
- support the development and facilitation of required pre-program training
- actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events
- adhere to all Department of Health, Department of Education, DYCD, YMCA of Greater New York, and funder standards, expectations, and regulations
