Job Requirements

  • Must have extensive knowledge in cocktails, wines and spirits, food knowledge and safety
  • ability to work fast and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to check identification for legal alcohol purchase age
  • must follow sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policies
  • capable of handling cash and card transactions accurately
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
  • ability to transmit orders effectively to kitchen staff
  • capable of assisting with inventory management
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to multitask and work under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of restaurant experience in upscale dining is preferred
  • must be detail oriented, accurate and possess good organizational abilities
  • capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • must possess customer service skills and strong oral communication skills
  • competency in dealing with members and fellow employees under circumstances requiring tact and diplomacy
  • ability to work effectively under time deadlines

Job Duties

  • Welcoming guests, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders
  • checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol
  • selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to guests
  • properly describe, open and pour wine while guest-facing
  • assist guests in selecting food and beverages by suggesting courses, explaining the menu and chef's specialties, identifying appropriate wines and answering food and drink preparation questions
  • transmit orders to the kitchen by recording patrons' choices
  • identifying patrons' special dietary needs and special requests
  • stay updated on current menu choices, specialties, menu deviations and knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items
  • assisting with inventory when needed and alerting management of supplies needed to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked
  • handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register
  • maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment
  • perform basic side-work as needed or directed by management
  • protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policies
  • keep kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression
