Job Requirements
- Must have a valid Alcohol Server Permit
- ability to stand and walk on feet for up to 8 hours
- ability to lift at least 40 pounds
- ability to bend, reach, kneel, push and stretch
- must be able to use or lift arms for up to 8 hours
- good finger dexterity
- clear vision for close cleaning and writing tasks
- ability to function well in a fast-paced environment
- flexibility to work late nights, weekends, and holidays
- courteous and attentive to guests
Job Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- experience as a server and/or bartender is preferred
- excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- certified in alcohol service with a valid ABC card
- ability to work in a high-paced and stressful environment
- ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Certified in serving alcohol with care or other like ABC training certification and has a valid ABC card and maintains same during employment
- complies with all ABC rules, laws and regulations as well as server responsibilities as defined in certified training materials
- setting up the bar area, which may include stocking the bar with beer, wine, liquor and any essential non-alcoholic items to serve appropriate beverages to the bar guests
- make sure the bar is stocked with appropriate glassware, cocktail stirring rods, napkins and drink garnishes such as cherries, olives, cocktail onions and lemon and lime wedges
- verifying customer identification to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol consumption
- responsible for filling drink orders for guests, answering questions about drink ingredients and making suggestions for different types of beverages and cocktails
- responsible for taking cash and credit card payments for drinks and balancing cash and credit card receipts
- remove dirty dishes and linen as needed
- reset tables with clean china, linen, silver, glassware, utensils, condiments, and paper
- basic knowledge of menu prices and composition
- requires familiarity of daily specials
- monitor snacks at bar and tables
- after bar closes, responsible for cleaning the bar, disposing of trash and recyclables including plastic cups, bottles and cans
- empty, clean and refill items as described in side work duties
- maintain a clean uniform and person
- knowledge of fire alarm system and evacuation procedures
- keep confidential the business functions of the company including financial status, customer/guest information, employees issues
- use pour measuring shot cup to ensure all drinks contain the proper amount of alcohol
- immediately inform the manager on duty of any guest issues
- must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- quickly respond to all guest requests
