Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of one year of bartending experience in restaurant, hotel, resort or private club food and beverage operations preferred
  • food handler's certification
  • of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • alcoholic beverage certification (TABC certificate)
  • required to work irregular and extended hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to stand and walk for several hours during a work shift
  • must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel and use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
  • must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • must be able to moderate noise levels in the work environment
  • must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions
  • specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • must be able to see the computer screen, paperwork, etc

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of one year of bartending experience in restaurant, hotel/resort or private club food and beverage operations preferred
  • positive attitude, passionate and highly motivated with good organizational skills
  • basic knowledge of Jonas or other comparable POS system preferred
  • knowledgeable of all aspects of department and daily club operations, including events and operating hours
  • ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
  • ability to work large or small events with minimal supervision and in a team environment
  • ability to handle many tasks at once
  • ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment with a keen eye for detail
  • must be able to handle stress in a healthy and professional manner
  • must be able to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner
  • has the ability to learn new technologies as necessary
  • knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations
  • ability to keep information confidential and operate with honesty and integrity

Job Duties

  • Inspect the bar prior to opening to ensure adequate supplies are available
  • request additional supplies as necessary and stock the bar
  • follow set-up procedures
  • prepare garnishes, fruit mixes and pre-mixed drinks prior to opening bar
  • greet, receive and acknowledge members and guests in various dining outlets
  • provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating
  • distribute food and beverage menus and answer questions
  • mix, prepare and serve drinks to members and guests and mix and prepare drinks ordered by food and beverage servers according to approved standard recipes
  • efficiently serve food and drinks in a friendly and courteous manner and offer suggestions on daily specials and wine selections
  • suggest proper wine pairings with selected menu items
  • place orders with kitchen and inform cooks about any special cooking instructions
  • observe guests to respond to any additional requests and to ensure member/guest satisfaction
  • assemble food and beverages on trays and procure items from each station as necessary
  • check back to ensure member and guest satisfaction and replenish water and other items as necessary
  • remove soiled dishes, clear tables after each course and reset them with appropriate silverware
  • suggest after-dinner drinks
  • verify accuracy of prices, state and federal taxes, tips and other charges on all checks
  • ensure that the correct member numbers and names are given for billing
  • thank members and guests and invite them to return
  • maintain and clean bar area and equipment
  • maintain records of liquors, beers and wine to ensure bar stock is maintained at all times
  • clean and lock the bar area according to prescribed closing procedures
  • ensure that all food items are correctly stored, labeled, dated and rotated to prevent any health or safety hazards and take precautions against possible spoilage
  • advise supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur
  • perform clean-up and closing duties as assigned by manager
  • attend pre-meal meetings as requested by the F&B Service Manager, F&B Director and Clubhouse Manager
  • responsible for adhering to proper dress code and conducting themselves in a professional manner at all times
  • consistently follow local and state laws and the club's policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages to members and guests
  • comply with basic safety and sanitation requirements
  • follow procedures of food handler's as set by the state of Texas
  • assure that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed
  • knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations
  • knowledge of club menus in all dining outlets
  • perform opening and closing duties as outlined
  • communicate orders through the POS System to the kitchen and service staff
  • record beverages to reconciliation sheet after each event and give to manager on duty
  • attend all training and staff meetings
  • consistently learn members’ names and their special preferences
  • work directly with the Director of Food & Beverage and perform any other tasks as directed
  • complete other assignments made by the F&B Service Manager and Clubhouse Manager
