Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • hold a current Food Handler Card
  • basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes
  • basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions and vouchers
  • sufficient manual dexterity in hands to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock
  • basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate simple instructions
  • ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel
  • ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items
  • ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g. coffee maker
  • ability to transport up to 30 lbs through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift
  • lifting fifty (30) pounds maximum
  • constant standing and walking required
  • frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling

Job Duties

  • Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • promote and document orders for drinks
  • mix, garnish and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
  • maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily including requisitioning and stocking supplies
  • maintain stock, cut and store fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and perishables daily
  • receive cash from guests, make change, verify charges, record transactions and ensure vouchers are properly executed
  • lock up and store all beverages, food and equipment, deposit cash drops and secure bank
  • answer bar phone promptly and take room service orders accurately
  • input orders into point of sale system and create checks for guests and personnel
  • perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health standards
  • adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • follow safety and security procedures and rules
  • know department fire prevention and emergency procedures
  • utilize protective equipment
  • report unsafe conditions and incidents to supervisor
  • maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance
  • perform any related duties as requested by supervisor or manager
  • assist other beverage personnel when needed
