Job Requirements

  • Be of legal age to serve alcohol
  • possess state applicable health and/or alcohol compliance card
  • basic mathematical skills and an ability to handle money and give correct change is required
  • possess basic reading and computer skills
  • possess basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes
  • must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • must be multi-task oriented
  • possess knowledge of company’s food and beverage specifications and workplace safety procedures
  • must have reasonable availability keeping in mind that most of the restaurant business is on nights and weekends

Job Duties

  • Welcome each guest personally using enthusiastic words, tone, and body language
  • make guests feel appreciated
  • work as a team with all personnel in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service
  • work with others to keep all areas clean and stocked to the company’s standards
  • mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons of the bar and dining room following standard recipes
  • input orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests, make correct change and provide receipts
  • clean and arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display
  • wash and sterilize stemware
  • anticipate guests’ needs and follow the half-full rule when offering another drink
  • remain alert of guests’ signals and acknowledge signals
  • check identification of guests who are consuming alcoholic beverages
  • refuse alcohol service to guests who are not of legal age
  • responsibly serve alcohol and remain aware of guests’ state of intoxication
  • perform other duties as assigned
