Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • hold a current food handler card
  • basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks and understand portion sizes
  • basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions and vouchers
  • sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks and retrieve stock
  • basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand customer inquiries and communicate simple instructions
  • ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions
  • ability to remember, recite and promote menu items
  • ability to operate beverage equipment such as a coffee maker
  • ability to transport up to 30 pounds throughout the shift
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • constant standing and walking required
  • ability to perform frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling

Job Duties

  • greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promote and document orders for drinks
  • mix, garnish and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
  • maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily including requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections
  • maintain stock, cut, and store fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality
  • receive cash from guests and make change, verify validity of charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed to balance all moneys
  • lock up and store all beverages, food and other equipment items, deposit cash drops and secure bank
  • answer bar phone within three rings and courteously take room service orders, input orders into a point of sale register and create checks to maintain accountability
  • perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards
  • adhere to all company policies, safety and security procedures and rules
  • report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to supervisor
  • maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance according to team member handbook
  • assist other beverage personnel when needed
  • perform any related duties as requested by supervisor or manager
