Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a bar or food service environment preferred
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages as per state laws
  • Must hold a current Food Handler Card
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds and standing for extended periods
  • Basic English language proficiency for communication and documentation
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and health regulations
  • Ability to follow company policies and maintain professional appearance
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Basic cash handling experience
  • Ability to operate point of sale systems
  • Adherence to all liquor laws and responsible beverage service regulations

  • Knowledge of State Federal and Corporate liquor regulations
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service
  • Basic mathematical skills for cash handling and portion control

  • Ability to operate beverage equipment
  • Sufficient manual dexterity for preparation and serving tasks
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written instructions
  • Ability to maintain a neat clean and professional appearance
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand/walk for long periods

Job Duties

  • Serve beverages and or food to the guests in a friendly courteous and timely manner
  • Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner and promote and document orders for drinks
  • Mix garnish and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily including requisitioning and stocking of all necessary supplies
  • Maintain stock cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes juices and other perishables daily
  • Receive cash from guests make change verify validity of charges record charges and ensure vouchers are properly executed
  • Lock up and store all beverages food and other equipment items deposit cash drops and secure bank
  • Answer bar phone within three rings and correctly and courteously take room service orders input orders into a register at the point of sale and create checks for each guest
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and follow safety and security procedures and rules
  • Know department fire prevention and emergency procedures utilize protective equipment and report unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • Report accidents injuries near-misses property damage or loss to supervisor
  • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules
  • Maintain a neat clean and well-groomed appearance
  • Perform any related duties as requested by supervisor or manager
  • Assist other beverage personnel when needed
  • Know all State Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • Hold a current Food Handler Card
  • Have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • Use basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register make change total guest checks count total bank prepare cash drops total all other charges and understand portion sizes
  • Use basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions and vouchers
  • Have sufficient manual dexterity in hands to use a knife to make garnish pick up glassware and bottles scoop ice mix drinks and retrieve stock overhead
  • Understand and communicate simple instructions in English
  • Comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions
  • Remember recite and promote the variety of menu items
  • Operate beverage equipment such as coffee maker
  • Transport up to 30 pounds through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift
  • Lift fifty 30 pounds maximum
  • Engage in constant standing and walking
  • Frequently twist bend stoop reach stand walk talk hear see and smile
