Job Description

This position is with the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities at McConnell Air Force Base, assigned specifically to the Bowling Center. The facility serves military personnel, their families, and other authorized patrons, offering recreational and leisure opportunities including a well-maintained bowling alley and a full-service bar. Job Requirements

  • Complete a background investigation with favorable results
  • Complete a pre-employment physical examination to verify health and fitness
  • Meet minimum age requirements for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages
  • Obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler's training
  • Be a U.S. citizen or non-U.S. national with required residency
  • Register for Selective Service if applicable
  • Be able to provide authorized identity documents for installation access
  • Able to satisfactorily complete employment verification (E-Verify)
  • May be subject to a probationary period
  • Able to meet all eligibility, qualification, and background requirements
  • Union membership with American Federation of Government Employment Local 1737
  • Direct deposit required

Job Qualifications

  • Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale including knowledge of a wide variety of beverages and ability to combine ingredients for exotic drinks
  • Ability to recognize and manage intoxicated or unruly patrons
  • Ability to follow cash handling procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly and deal effectively with the public
  • Physical ability to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler's training
  • Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical examination
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation with favorable results

Job Duties

  • Operate a full-service bar
  • Mix and serve all types of alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks to order following established recipes
  • Deliver drinks to bar waiters or serve directly to patrons
  • Receive payments or charge to member's account as appropriate
  • Wash glasses and bar equipment
  • Prepare garnishes for mixed drinks
  • Help stock service bar or portable bar for catered functions
  • Ensure proper operation of the bar, receipts, and inventory accountability
  • Accept money, operate a cash register, and make change
  • Prepare documentation for cash funds accountability as required
  • Recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolve issues or seek assistance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
