Job Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of experience in full service bar or equivalent
  • Must have accurate mathematic skills
  • Must have knowledge and experience in alcoholic beverage preparation
  • Must understand menu and specials
  • Must know wine list
  • Must know liquor list and special drink recipes
  • Must be aware of liquor liability laws
  • Must understand accounting procedures
  • Must meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Must be courteous and pleasant
  • Must communicate effectively with guests
  • Must provide a persona compatible with restaurant image
  • Must stand or walk for long periods on duty
  • Must work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must accurately manage large sums of money
  • Must be able to open beer, liquor and wine bottles frequently
  • Must be physically able to move and transport filled glass rack and cases of beer, wine or liquor when bar back is unavailable

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a full service bar or equivalent
  • Accurate mathematic skills
  • Knowledge and experience in preparation of alcoholic beverages
  • Thorough knowledge of types of liquors and wines and their distinctions and use
  • Familiarity with menu and specials
  • Understanding of wine list and liquor list including special drink recipes
  • Awareness of liquor liability laws
  • Proficiency in accounting procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly and be courteous
  • Present a persona compatible with the restaurant image

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve beverages directly to customers at the bar and lounge
  • Provide food service to guests seated at the bar
  • Arrange and set up beverages, mixes, and supplies efficiently according to procedures
  • Complete all assigned side work
  • Prepare ingredients needed for mixed beverage recipes
  • Safely use equipment and utensils as prescribed
  • Prepare beverages according to prescribed recipes including exact alcohol content
  • Count and be responsible for the cash drawer
  • Operate bar service functions independently when necessary
  • Take and fill food orders from guests at the bar using communication and computer register systems
  • Communicate cordially and effectively with co-workers and guests
  • Accurately record and account for all items served
  • Maintain security of bar stock inventory
  • Assist host staff with answering telephones
